Weight and weave
Standard 12–14 oz denim requires more heat dwell time than lightweight jersey. Heavy selvedge or canvas-weight denim may need additional press support.
Denim is heavier, stiffer, and more textured than jersey. The pressing approach, platen weight, temperature, and dwell time all need to match the specific denim weight and construction — not a general cotton setting.

Unlike jersey, denim presents woven surface texture, significant weight variation, seam ridges near placement areas, and a wide range of finishing treatments that change how heat and pressure are delivered.

Denim applications require individual review. Cotton denim, stretch denim, coated denim, and washed or treated denim each behave differently under heat and pressure. The surface texture, weight, and any applied wash or coating must be confirmed before application testing.
Denim's woven surface and raised texture create an uneven pressing surface compared with jersey knits. A firm, flat platen press with appropriate temperature and dwell time is important, and the specific instructions for the approved transfer construction must be followed.
Back yoke, back pocket, front thigh, and jacket back panel are commonly requested. Seam ridges near back pockets, inside leg seams, and waistband proximity all require careful measurement before the transfer size is confirmed.
Stretch denim and distressed finishes present additional variables around adhesion and surface evenness. Confirm the exact denim specification and submit it for feasibility review before artwork mapping.
