Buyer perspective
Denim products are not one uniform substrate. A washed jacket, a coated bag, and a dense jean panel may interact differently with the same transfer. The actual item's texture, seams, and construction determine whether a motif can be applied evenly and kept clear during wear.
Options
A jacket back and a jean pocket might use the same artwork, but their thickness, seams, and hardware create different application conditions. Compare those locations on the actual denim items before selecting the production position.
Mark the motif at full size on each item. Note rivets, distressing, coatings, thick seam allowances, and how the design looks when the garment is worn.
Determine whether equipment can contact the whole motif evenly in each position. Apply samples using current instructions; do not judge a raised-seam failure as evidence about an otherwise flat position.
Inspect fabric face and stones after cooling, movement, and relevant care. Compare edge contact and visible distortion for each specific garment-finish-position combination.
Pick the reachable panel that survives a representative trial, even if a flat mockup favored another location.
What to decide
Milestone 01
Record garment model, fabric face, wash or coating, color, and location. Mark rivets, pockets, thick seams, and distressing near the proposed artwork. Proof the outside stone envelope at physical size on that exact panel.
Milestone 02
Ask for the transfer's current instructions and confirm what support the application equipment can provide behind the chosen panel. Do not press across a raised seam or hardware and then assume poor contact is a defect in the stones.
Milestone 03
Apply a representative sample, check the fabric and stones after cooling, then handle and care for the denim as planned. Compare placement while worn and document any edge lift or local distortion without assigning a cause from one photograph.
