Compare the visual language
Stones reflect light as discrete points and add physical relief. Screen printing creates ink areas and can carry continuous color or fine graphic detail, subject to the chosen print process.
Compare design constraints
Small text, gradients and dense artwork may need very different simplification in stones and print. Review the artwork at finished size before quoting either route.
Compare the full production path
Include setup, blank garment, decoration, quality checks and care requirements in the decision. A hybrid layout may be possible, but each method still needs a controlled sample.
Field exercise
Test the visual goal before choosing a process
If the design needs continuous shading, very small lettering and a flat hand, make a print sample. If point-like light reflection and raised texture are central to the brief, make a stone sample at the same finished size. Put both on the same blank garment and view them in the expected selling light. A hybrid design can combine effects, but it adds registration and care questions that deserve their own test.
