Choose the visual outcome
Decide whether the label should lie flat, feel raised or carry a soft molded edge. Ask for physical examples at the proposed dimensions; a screen mockup cannot show the true relief or fine-line limits.
Match material to garment
Different label constructions and adhesives behave differently on stretch, textured or coated fabric. Confirm garment composition and wash needs before selecting a film or molded option.
Approve the applied result
Check alignment, edge bond, hand feel and appearance after washing. Include the application recipe and placement tolerances in the production instruction so later runs match the sample.

Write a label brief at actual size
A neck label, outside hem mark and raised chest logo may share artwork but not the same comfort or visual requirements. State the exact placement and finished dimensions for each use. Print the logo at one-to-one scale before asking for a molded or film sample; fine text that is readable on a monitor can disappear on a small label. Then apply a sample to the production fabric and inspect the edge, relief and legibility in use.
Evidence to retain
- 01Mark the smallest letters, line gaps, color boundaries and acceptable artwork simplifications.

- 03Retain both an unused label and an applied garment sample as the version reference.
