Jersey fabric guide

Name the jersey fabric before the brief.

Sports jersey fabrics vary widely — from smooth interlock to open bird's-eye mesh to dri-fit microfiber. The fabric controls the application method, not the other way around.

Polyester interlock

Smooth surface, consistent heat distribution. Most predictable adhesion result. Confirm dye sublimation or coating before applying.

Open mesh

Open weave means the press contacts the adhesive through gaps. Backing paper or support material may be required under the placement area.

Dri-fit / microfiber

Moisture-wicking treatments on the fiber surface can affect adhesion. Confirm compatibility and test without pre-washing unless the actual garment arrives pre-washed.

Sublimated print

All-over sublimated jerseys have a dye-set surface that may interact with heat-transfer adhesives. Test on an identical printed panel before committing to bulk.
