Buyer perspective
A keychain or bag charm is a small product with several failure points: the decorated face, the body beneath it, and the hardware attaching it to a bag or keys. Buyers should inspect the assembled item, because a beautiful front-view photograph hides how the clasp and joins behave.

Build a brief that can be tested

Inspect the attachment
Open and close the clasp, examine the jump rings and chain joins, and check for sharp edges. Handle the item as a customer would. If the intended use is a bag charm rather than a key ring, test it on the actual handle or loop.

Review the decorated face
Compare stone spacing, color, alignment, and edge finish across multiple samples. Turn the charm over to assess backing and construction. Ask how the approved artwork and colorway will be identified for a repeat order.

Plan a coherent assortment
Separate shapes and finishes as individual SKUs, then decide how they will be packed and labeled for your sales channel. If selling to children or regulated markets, determine applicable safety requirements independently before ordering.
Specification
Measure the assembled charm
Charm dimensions are often quoted for the decorative body alone. Record the complete hanging object so the retailer and customer know what fits.
- Body envelope
- Measure the widest and tallest points of the decorated shape, including protruding stones or edges.
- Hang length
- Measure from the clasp to the lowest point with the chain fully extended; check how it hangs from the intended bag loop.
- Hardware opening
- Record clasp opening and connection type, then test it against the handle, zipper pull, or key ring it is meant to attach to.
Photograph the charm attached to the target object and specify packing by SKU. A loose-body close-up does not communicate real scale.
