Pre-application care

Iron-On Transfer Sheet Storage and Handling

Protect transfer sheets by preserving carrier flatness, item identity, handling records, and supplier-specific storage guidance.

Buyer perspective

A transfer can be damaged before anyone starts the press. Creased carriers, mixed artwork versions, and contact with the decorated face can turn a sound design into a failed application. Storage instructions should be requested for the actual transfer construction and then translated into clear receiving and workroom controls.

Approval gate

Create a pre-press release check

The application team should be able to reject an unsuitable sheet before it reaches a garment. Place a short release check at the unpacking station and link each condition to the approved transfer and current instructions.

  • Identity

Match the pack code, revision, design orientation, size, and garment job to the work order.

  • Condition

Examine carrier flatness, stone or print alignment, separation, and marks from packaging or handling.

  • Instructions

Confirm supplier-specific storage and application guidance is available for this construction, not copied from another product.

Quarantine mixed or damaged sheets for review. An operator should not have to guess whether a creased carrier will still apply correctly.

What to decide

Build a brief that can be tested

01

Preserve the carrier

Inspect delivered sheets for bending, separated elements, or marks from adjacent packs. Ask the supplier how to stack and protect the specific material. Keep handling rules visible where operators unpack the order instead of relying on a note hidden in purchasing email.

02

Prevent version mixing

Label each pack with design code, revision, dimensions, colorway, and count. Separate trial samples from approved production sheets. A visually similar motif can still differ in orientation, scale, or stone color.

03

Set a pre-press check

Before application, confirm the sheet identity, condition, garment pairing, and current supplier instructions. Hold damaged or uncertain stock for review. A storage period or shelf-life claim should come from product-specific evidence, not a universal rule.
