Buyer perspective
Material labels such as glass and acrylic are not enough to predict a decorated garment's appearance. Facet shape, coating, color, setting, and viewing conditions all influence the result. A useful comparison holds the artwork and substrate constant and asks suppliers to identify exactly what was sampled.
What to decide
Field folio 01
Use one motif, physical size, stone size, garment fabric, and placement for both candidates. Ask the maker to record material and finish for each sample. If colors or settings differ, the comparison cannot isolate the material choice.

Compare appearance in ordinary and directed light, then handle the garment as a customer would. Assess weight and flexibility on the actual panel. Run the care or wear trial relevant to the finished product and record any stone or surface changes.
Field folio 03
Request evidence for material identity and any durability claim the product listing will make. Store the accepted sample code and inspection photos with the artwork. Do not assume one result covers every stone size, adhesive system, or fabric.
Options
A brighter photograph is not evidence that one stone material will suit the finished garment better. Build matched physical samples and record differences that remain after artwork, stone size, color, substrate, and lighting are held constant.
View both garments in ordinary and directed light at the customer viewing distance, using the same camera exposure if photographed.
Compare hand feel and panel movement; record any weight or stiffness concern on the intended garment rather than a loose swatch.
Apply the relevant care and handling trial, then note missing stones, surface changes, or altered appearance for each identified sample.
Publish only material and performance statements supported by the chosen stone's own specification and the tested garment build.
