Woven labels bring the mark into the fabric language of the garment. The buying decision is not simply whether a logo can be woven; it is whether its essential details survive at the intended size and the finished edge works in the chosen seam. A physical woven sample is required because the current catalog has no honest photograph of this construction.

Build a brief that can be tested

Field note 01

Prioritize the mark

Choose the letters, symbol, and color relationships that matter most. Simplify extremely fine lines before they turn into an indistinct texture. Review the pattern at the final face dimensions and request a supplier feasibility check for the selected weave.

Choose edge and fold

Ask how the label will be supplied: flat, folded, or another quoted construction. Define visible face and sewing allowance separately. Consider whether a cut edge touches skin or sits inside a seam, and test that position on the garment.

Compare physical swatches

Examine color, small-detail clarity, face and reverse, hand feel, and sewn appearance on the actual fabric. Record the accepted artwork revision, dimensions, fold, and thread direction for a reorder. A changed garment seam may alter the result.

Specification

Measure face, fold and stitch allowance

A woven label's advertised width can mean the visible face or the unfolded strip. Ask for both so the sewn result matches the garment pattern.

Visible face: Measure the readable area after folding and stitching, including how close important text sits to the seam.
Unfolded length: Record complete supplied dimensions and the amount consumed by each fold or sewing edge.
Garment placement: Measure from a stable seam or neckline landmark and photograph the label on the actual size range.

Keep the dimensional drawing with a sewn sample. If the factory changes the seam allowance, the visible label may change without altering the supplied piece.
