Build a brief that can be tested
Choose border and backing together
A border affects both appearance and edge durability. Backing affects how the patch is attached and how it sits on the garment. Specify whether sewing, heat application, or removable fastening is intended, then check the combination on the real item.
Keep an approval record
Document thread colors, dimensions, border treatment, artwork revision, and placement. Compare production samples with the approved physical patch, not only a color reference displayed on different screens.

A vector logo can hide details that thread cannot reproduce cleanly at a small patch size. Make the physical sample the approval reference and record the construction around it, including the base, border, and attachment method.

Physical stitch view
Inspect fill direction, thread coverage, border thickness, and legibility in normal light, not only in a magnified photo.
Repeat record

If essential small lettering cannot be read on the sample, compare a woven or printed label before placing a bulk order.
