High-stretch legging fabrics — nylon/spandex or polyester/spandex blends — require dedicated adhesion testing. The stretch recovery cycle must be simulated before sample approval, as standard cotton-jersey transfer approvals do not apply to four-way stretch materials.
Hip, outer thigh, and waistband-adjacent panels are the most common legging placement zones. Calf and ankle placements require curved-surface application techniques. Each zone must be tested with the press set up for that area's geometry.
Waistband areas involve extra fabric layers and different stretch ratios than the main body. Transfers placed over or adjacent to the waistband require testing that accounts for this additional material and the stretch pattern specific to that construction zone.
Active-wear leggings are often washed more frequently and at higher temperature than general apparel. The approved care instructions for the exact transfer and fabric combination control. Confirm wash temperature, agitation level, and drying method with the supplier before production approval.
