Buyer perspective
An abaya or other draped garment presents a larger moving surface than a flat swatch. Rhinestone artwork should be judged while the garment hangs and moves, with attention to seams, fold lines, and how much of the motif is visible in wear. The buyer should separate aesthetic approval from application suitability.
Specification
A placement drawing for a flowing garment needs more than a center point. Show the intended motif extent against openings, cuffs, folds, and repeated pattern pieces, then review the same map on an actual garment.
Approve a measured sample on the production fabric; a flat-lay photograph cannot establish the final draped effect.
What to decide
Pin an actual-size paper motif to the intended garment and view it standing, walking, and with sleeves moving where relevant. Mark folds, front openings, cuffs, and areas that may touch accessories. A symmetrical flat layout may not read evenly once the fabric hangs.
Identify the production textile and finish, then test the proposed transfer or attachment method on that material. Inspect surface changes, stone retention, weight, and hand feel after representative handling and care. Avoid assuming a result from an unrelated polyester sample applies to every flowing fabric.
For borders or scattered accents, document spacing, orientation, and starting points on the garment pattern. Keep a decorated sample, artwork revision, stone reference, and placement diagram. Recheck when the pattern or fabric supplier changes.
