Buyer perspective
A color code is a useful communication reference, not a guarantee that thread, film, fabric, and rhinestones will look identical. Buyers should state the requested color system and view physical samples of each actual construction. The accepted product is the material sample under agreed viewing conditions, not the code alone.
Specification
Make a color comparison repeatable
A buyer sends a Pantone reference for an embroidered patch and a molded label. Those unlike materials will not necessarily render the same appearance. The useful task is to define how each actual sample will be viewed and accepted.
- Reference
- Record the exact requested code or physical swatch and identify the parts it governs. Do not leave a note such as brand blue without a controlled reference.
- Viewing setup
- Place each specimen beside the reference and intended garment under named lighting. Record whether texture, gloss, or the receiving fabric changes the perceived result.
- Acceptance
- Retain one agreed specimen for each material, note any approved difference, and compare reorders under the same setup. A code alone does not replace sample sign-off.
Color is approved on the specific material and garment under a recorded viewing method, not by a screen-rendered number.

Build a brief that can be tested

Define the comparison
Provide the specific reference code or physical swatch and identify which element it governs: thread, printed area, molded label, or another component. Keep garment color in the brief because the receiving surface can change perceived contrast.

Evaluate real materials
Compare candidate samples under named lighting against the same reference. Observe face, edge, texture, and how the color appears on the final garment. Record any accepted difference explicitly rather than claiming an exact match across unlike materials.
- Scene 03
Carry the standard forward
Retain an approved physical specimen, supplier color identifier, artwork revision, and garment model. On reorder, compare a new production sample with that specimen and reapprove if the material source or substrate changes.
