Selection should begin with the product's required construction and an evidence request that every candidate can answer. Keep the comparison proportional to the product's risk and destination.

A supplier scorecard is strongest when it exposes evidence rather than assigning unexplained numbers. Use the same proposed item and the same questions for every candidate, then document what each can substantiate.

What to decide
Send the same artwork, target dimensions, material intent, attachment method, quantity split, and packing needs to each candidate. Ask them to identify what they would change and why. Separate a technical alternative from a quote for the original brief.
Request an identified sample and look at edge quality, color, fine detail, backing, and application on the intended substrate. Ask how inspection is recorded and how a failed lot would be isolated. A sample without construction identity is a weak production reference.
Compare quote exclusions, current capacity assumptions, artwork ownership, approval gates, communication route, and change procedure. Verify any certifications or tests against the exact item rather than accepting a generic badge. Document who can authorize substitutions.
