Textile label brief

Custom Woven Label Order Checklist

Prepare a woven-label inquiry with final dimensions, text priority, fold format, sewing allowance, garment context, and sample proof.

Buyer perspective

A woven label has to express a brand in thread at a small physical size. The order brief should state what must be read, where the label will be sewn, and how the edges or folds will be handled. Without an actual woven sample image in the current catalog, the construction must be confirmed by proof and specimen.

Approval gate

Woven-label purchase approval gates

Keep design approval separate from sewn-garment approval. A clean digital weave proof cannot establish edge feel or the position in the final seam.

  • Content gate

One buyer approves exact words, symbols, color priorities and final reading size for the intended market.

  • Construction gate

The supplier confirms face dimensions, fold or cut edge, sewing allowance, reverse and quoted weave.

  • Garment gate

A physical label is sewn into the real garment and inspected for readability, alignment, comfort and care response.

Record the accepted artwork and sample revision at every gate. Changing fold or seam placement after approval requires another attached specimen.

What to decide

Build a brief that can be tested

Field note 01

Decide what the label says

Provide authorized logo artwork and final text, including required size or care information if those are part of the label. Mark which details cannot be omitted. Compare a one-to-one proof at normal reading distance, not only an enlarged render.

Field note 02

Define the supplied shape

State finished face dimensions, fold request, orientation, and any sewing allowance. Explain whether the label is sewn into a neckline, side seam, hem, or exterior location. Ask the supplier to review feasibility for the exact weave and edge construction quoted.

Field note 03

Approve on the garment

Sew a representative specimen into the actual garment. Inspect readability, edge feel, alignment, reverse appearance, and how the label behaves after relevant care. Keep the artwork revision and fold specification with the accepted sample.
