Buyer perspective
The term patch can describe a loose component or a logo applied from a carrier. For a dimensional heat-transfer request, identify the supplied format before reviewing artwork. The visible relief, application surface, and press access all have to work together on the finished item.
What to decide
Ask whether the quoted design is supplied on a transfer carrier, as a standalone component, or already attached to a garment. Packing, assembly responsibility, and sample approval differ for each. Put the answer on the same specification as the artwork.
Mark raised and recessed areas at final scale. Describe nearby seams, coatings, stretch, and curves on the receiving product. A logo that looks balanced on a flat proof may not sit evenly across a pocket edge or structured cap.
Test the proposed construction on the actual substrate with the intended equipment. Inspect after cooling and after the care or handling relevant to its use. Keep settings with that sample only; they are not a universal recipe for other fabrics.
Sample protocol
The same transfer should not be approved from a free-standing sample if the production garment is available.
Record garment model, fabric face, placement and nearby seams; photograph the clear press area.
Inspect relief, edge registration, alignment and surface change once the decorated panel is cool.
Handle and care for the sample in the way the finished item will be used; record observations without inventing a universal durability claim.
Attach the trial record to that garment and equipment combination. A new fabric or coating resets the approval.
